Why have a Comprehensive Home Energy Audit performed on your home?
  1. High energy bills
  2. Comfort issues from floor to floor or room to room
  3. Health/safety concerns or problems with poor indoor air quality
  4. Qualify energy efficiency improvements for rebate incentives
What does a Comprehensive Energy Audit Include?
  • Visual Inspection of Whole House – During your home energy audit, our auditor will inspect your home for the efficiency of HVAC ductwork and equipment and lights and appliances. Additionally, they will inspect all crawlspaces and attic(s) for air leaks, low insulation levels, and health and safety issues that can lead to rot, mold, or high maintenance costs.
  • Diagnostic Testing – A variety of diagnostic tests will be conducted on your home to help diagnose inefficiencies and health and safety problems. This testing includes a blower door air leakage test, infrared camera inspection, and combustion appliance safety testing.
  • Education from an Expert About Potential Improvements – Before leaving your home, our auditor will thoroughly review all of the areas in your home that can be improved, what is required to improve these areas, and the benefits that can be realized. We demonstrate what your home’s inefficiencies are using all of our diagnostic equipment to help show you exactly what parts of your home are costing you money and making you uncomfortable.
  • A Prioritized Plan to Improve Your Home – After your energy audit, your Atlas auditor will provide a detailed report that outlines all the improvements that can be done to your home to make it more efficient and comfortable. This report includes the energy savings for all the improvements for your home. At the same time, you will receive a proposal with itemized costs for all the projects that we are recommending for your home along with the rebate amount from your electric utility provider.
  • Eligibility for Home Performance with Energy Star Rebate – Because Atlas Home Energy Solutions is an approved contractor for all of the Maryland Utility Programs, the completion of a Comprehensive Home Energy Audit will qualify you for rebates from your electric utility for insulation, air sealing, duct sealing, and health and safety improvements.

How much does a Home Energy Audit Cost?

The home energy audit is a $400 exam; however, all the major Maryland Electric Utility Providers (Potomac Edison, BGE, and Pepco) are currently subsidizing $300 of the cost. You only have to pay $100 at the time of inspection!
